So, I got brave and entered the apartment therapy color contest.

The results are verifying what I already knew. I do my own thing and a lot of people don’t get it. That’s just peachy with me. Today, we were out and about first eating at Fuller’s in the Pearl, then out in the forest picking mushrooms, then back to town for fried oysters at Lagnaippe. Essentially, we were living the high life. But, I came home, walked into the back room and the sun was shining through the curtains and I was bathed in the soft gray-blue-violet light of the room and I thought for a moment that staying home would have been nicer.

  1. Yeah I entered too, people acted like I was a sinner for entering a contest I IN NO WAY WHATSOEVER would be winning. Sheesh.

  2. I saw your entry and I felt for you. The east coasters are a tough crowd.

I’m not sure what to make of the nor’westers yet.

Overall, I think they need to replace the word “bold” with some other adjective for the color contest. It seems to skew the contest results a bit. I’m all for acid bright colors when used intelligently, but that doesn’t mean that using more complex colors is less worthy of being recognized.

  3. Don’t let the ATers get you down, your color sense is on the mark, totally beautiful.

  4. i was afraid to enter lest people tell me that i suck. the funny thing is, some of the people who were getting great feedback had a very … um … eclectic sense of style that seemed bizarre or off the wall to me. oh well. we know we know how to use color.
